"I had the great pleasure of working with Grant when I was Chief Executive of the New Zealand Business Exellence Foundation (NZBEF), initially when he was a lead Evaluator for the New Zealand equivalent of the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award and then when he joined me at the NZBEF as Programme Director. During this period Grant made a number of major contributions to the success of the NZBEF and indeed to the success and great benefit of many New Zealand organisations.
Grant is a leading expert in the “Criteria for Performance Excellence” and this knowledge and understanding, coupled with his other extensive skills and experience, enabled him to re-design the training programme for Evaluators of the Criteria and then establish the Business Excellence Academy, including course design and delivery of its Diploma in Business Excellence.
Grant also achieved a critical breakthrough in making the Criteria significantly more useful to organisations by resolving the algorithm for gaining scoring consensus against the Criteria, following which he incorporated the algorithm into the design and development of an application for self assessment against the Criteria." "TurboSigma® is a much smaller tool to do a much larger job" (see report)

Fonterra commissioned independent review

Over the last few years TurboSigma® has been used extensively in IT related problems areas, software enablement of core processes and on improving IT departments and their process landscapes. TurboSigma® style root cause analysis has been identified as the missing link in industry standard IT Requirements and Problem Resolution Processes (including (RUP™, ITIL™ and sCMM™/CMMI™ ). TurboSigma™ will assist every step of these processes supplying tools and methodology for all of the first four steps of the Requirements Process and rendering the last one a simple template.

TurboSigma® Improvement

World class organisations have a process by which all other processes can be improved. TurboSigma™ is becoming the inexpensive licensed tool of choice for these organisations. The following feedback was collected from 80 TurboSigma™ participants inside one of our largest clients. Participants were asked to feedback on each part of the course in terms of Process (how that part of the course was designed and delivered), Content (the material covered in the section) and Feelings (how they felt about the section). They were also asked for their ratings of the course as a whole as well as the facilitation of the course.
The scale is a eight point scale (with "1" reserved for no comment) that starts at 2:"appalling and inept" and proceeds through ,"pretty horrible really", "adequate but just barely", "all right", "good", "very good" to"outstanding". The course is demanding and it is expected that people will be considerably challenged and may run up against their life programming.

Training Feedback Graph1

In this sample of every completed survey from 13 training sessions,

  • 79/80 rose to the challenge and indicated that they not only got a great deal out of TurboSigma™ training but that they would use the TurboSigma® discipline back in their jobs) Notably: One person did not like their facilitator.
  • 2 people scored the course an "all right" (5/8).
  • An overwhelming 77 out of 80 participants rated this course 6 out of 8 or better with an average score across all 80 participants of "7".
  • 7 individuals rated it as outstanding "8"
The course was designed by BEA and the above sample of 13 training events includes courses delivered solely by BEA, courses co-facilitated by BEA and a client company facilitator and courses subsequently delivered entirely by in-client training resource (BEA trained trainers - attesting to the total portability of both methodology and training into our client organisations)

‘TurboSigma’d’ procedural and template documentation has been created for all steps of IT Requirements and Problem Resolution processes.
