BEA also worked to establish a more comprehensive continuous improvement methodology that could be use to improve asset reliability and business processes around asset management practices...
A cross function team of engineers, managers, and contractors were facilitated by BEA to target a negative performance trend within grid asset performance. Using the TurboSigma approach ... the team was able to identify a problem area of Human Element Incidents (HEIs) associated with maintenance switching and other activities as a key contributor to performance trends. BEA quickly (in days, not weeks) developed a comprehensive "wiring diagram" showing all activities, accountabilities, inputs and outcomes .... This was used to immediately get on top of the negative trend. Subsequent improvements initiatives based on these techniques have resulted in a significant decline in HEI caused events.
